Top-5 All Time Best Sea Story

I am ranking SHADOW DIVERS by Robert Kurson very high on my list of best sea stories of all time.  This book is jam packed from beginning to end with all the things that make up a great sea story.  As I try to describe this book, I'm like a kid in a candy store, because there are so many things to praise about it.  It’s difficult to choose where to begin.

So, in no particular order, here goes:  Salty characters literally jump off of every page, including rival deep sea divers from New York and New Jersey dive clubs, rugged scuba boat skippers, German U-Boat captains and sailors, historians who know everything there is to know about WWII in the Atlantic and nautical architects and engineers among others.  Add heavy doses of deep water scuba technology and German U-Boat engineering, plus deep dives into both the US and German WWII Naval history archives.  Finally, not one but several human interest stories, with a heavy dose of suspense and mystery that goes into solving one of the last mysteries of WWII.  Oh, and there’s no big government or military involvement, just two manly men who ride motorcycles and like go deep (and I mean DEEP) sea scuba diving.  And the action takes place 60 miles off the coast of New Jersey.  Trust me, if you’ve read this far then you should buy the book SHADOW DIVERS by Robert Kurson.  You’ll read it in 3-days or a week tops.  Oh, then you can go on YouTube and watch the documentaries and interviews with John Chatterton and Richie Kohler, the two main characters.
