A Random List of Sea Stories Found on Amazon

Fifty-Six Sea Stories for $445.72


Sounds like a bargain to me.  If you have an extra $445.72 at the bottom of your sock drawer, or perhaps in a coffee can, you might consider buying all the books on this random yet wonderful list of 56 sea stories.  I discovered this list while surfing around on Amazon this morning.



It includes many greats such as The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monsarrat, Ice Station Zebra by Alistair MacLean and Every Man for Himself by Beryl Bainbridge.  For those who like crime oriented sea stories, the list includes The Travis McGee Novels by John D. MacDonald:  The Deep Blue Good-by, The Empty Copper Sea and The Turquoise Lament.  One book I've seen over the years but for some reason have never picked up, is the crime sea story by Vincent Buglios, And the Sea Will Tell -- which I just ordered.



I've read many of the yarns on the list, including a few of my favorites, such as There I was...: Sea Stories, Tall Tales and Other True Lies by Capt Clifford E Babson, The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor by Richard Burton  (because all the dirty parts that are not included in the children's edition are left in), and The Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S. Coast Guard's Most Daring Sea Rescue by Michael J. Tougias and Casey Sherman

I'll be adding many of these titles to my To Be Read (TBR) List, especially The Night Boat by Robert McCammon, Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage by Sherry Sontag and Christopher Drew, and Island in the Sea of Time by S. M. Stirling.
